Identifying
key opportunities
I conducted a sample poll survey on Twitter Now X.com, which received over 343 responses. This shows that the developer community has ongoing concerns regarding the clarity and complexity of API documentation content.
Discovering
key insights
Complex
APIs Integration
Developers faced challenges due to the intricate nature of Interswitch APIs, leading to difficulties in integration.
Developer
Satisfaction
Negative feedback highlighted issues with Interswitch APIs, impacting developer satisfaction and adoption rates.
Inadequate
API Documentation
Insufficient documentation made it challenging for developers to understand and utilize Interswitch APIs effectively
Cumbersome
Onboarding Process
The onboarding process for new developers was burdensome, involving paperwork and informal procedures, which hindered smooth integration with Interswitch APIs.
Simplifying APIs
access and integration
Validating my findings, I created a simple user flow aimed at ensuring seamless interaction with our system, emphasizing quick accessibility to API documentation, an interactive sandbox for testing and understanding sample APIs, and streamlined implementation where developers request API access upon registration. This approach aims to simplify integration and enhance user experience.
Expanding ideas
with wireframes
Examined an unconventional approach using the Kano Model which explores two axes: satisfaction and functionality. I used prototypical, familiar, proven patterns to reduce cognitive load. In taking a user-centred approach, I emphasized the need for users to quickly find important API documentation and get right into the console for testing. To validate this, we ran studies using wireframe prototypes
Leveraging a clean
marketing landing Page
Based on my earlier research findings, visitors need to quickly grasp the benefits of using the APIs, see social proof from leading industries, and access information that is both informative and non-intrusive.
Instant
APIs understanding
Implementing card-based categorization allows users to effortlessly scan API lists, gaining instant knowledge of each API’s value at a glance.
Documentation
navigation layout
Users can effortlessly navigate documentation by adopting persistent navigation inspired by industry leaders such as Mastercard and Visa. A dedicated subsection at the top right provides intuitive access to key topics with a single click.
One-Tap access
with SSO integration
Simplify user onboarding with a single tap using Single Sign-On (SSO), leveraging existing accounts for seamless access.
Effortless
project setup
The goal is to empower developers with a smooth project setup experience, eliminating the need for customer support and accelerating their integration process.
Key takeaway
